Why CASH Music?

CASH Music is a nonprofit organization focussed on artist sustainability through education and open technology.

We've built our organization in direct conversation with the artists and we serve, including technical and industry minds at every turn. This feedback has been invaluable in building our open digital platform and helps us build educational materials helping artists find their way through new technologies and business models.

Open technologies and information are important to all of us:

Good For Artists

  • You can control your own destiny with our technology that is built for musicians / by musicians.
  • CASH offers basic digital tools to all artists for free.
  • You can control the message with these tools and reach out directly to your fans in the way that YOU want and see fit for your own band.
  • You will have access to a community of peers as well as developers to talk about, influence, and see new innovation develop through CASH. And use it!
  • Open-source is important to us as it means that whenever someone innovates on the CASH platform all artists gain access to that innovation. It must be shared with our community.
  • CASH is a non-profit organization which means it cannot be sold to some big organization with dubious ideas.

Good For Industry

  • Access to tools means labels/management can focus on the music business again.
  • Having a tech baseline means development can center around innovation rather than simply keeping up — lower costs to labels, higher benefit.
  • Many needed tools aren't easily capitalized on, so don't get built in entrepreneurial ventures — we have no such limitations.
  • CASH can serve as a neutral new media department across labels, building infrastructure and functionality that you can own, skin, and customize.
  • Greater access to knowledge means labels/agents/managers/artists can better understand revenue flow and work on solutions that make sense for all parties.

Good For Fans

  • Interact more directly with your favorite musicians.
  • Know that your purchases, social interactions, and email signups are directly benefitting the artist in the way they defined.
  • Artist control means more creativity and innovation in promotion.
  • Educational components can shed some light on the good that labels do, not just the mess the RIAA is making.
  • Understanding how an artist makes a living means you can better ensure a sustainable future for the musicians you support.
